We welcome you to Kavanaugh United Methodist Church.
In our open, caring church community there is always room for one
more – YOU!
From the spiritual enrichment of uplifting worship through the
social delights of seasonal celebrations and family dinners, we
aim to feed the body as well as the spirit in our shared journey
as Christ’s disciples.
We look forward to seeing you in the sanctuary, in the fellowship
hall, in a Sunday School room, at a Community Enrichment event or
anywhere else you feel drawn to participate in the joy of our community.
We’re saving a place for you at KUMC.

Visitors
Help
us make you feel at home when you visit with us at KUMC.
Please identify yourself as a visitor to our Sunday greeters. They
will provide you with a packet of visitor information (including
a ticket to a family meal at our Solid
Rock Café) and a visitor card for you to fill out and
place in the offering plate.
We encourage you to wear the visitor badge attached to the card
so our members can welcome you to our
worship service.
We also invite you to visit one of our “socials,” whether
it’s a Wednesday night dinner or a special event. Check our
calendar to
find out what’s coming up at KUMC.
Join Us
KUMC is always happy to welcome new members to our church family.
Pastor Ann Barton (903-455-2869) can answer any questions you
may have about joining the church. She will explore with you what
it
means to be a member of the United Methodist Church and Kavanaugh
UMC in particular.
The procedures for joining include Transfer of Membership, Profession
of Faith for individuals new to the church, and Confirmation for
young people who have completed Confirmation classes. In each case,
those who join our church are asked to respond to several questions
about their willingness to be faithful to Christ, to His Church,
and to our local church. Our congregation shares in the experience
of receiving and welcoming you (and your family) as new members.
Transfer of Membership
If you have been a member of another United Methodist Church, you
will simply greet your new congregation, exchanging membership papers
between churches. If you have belonged to another Christian church,
the United Methodist Church accepts your Baptism and Statement of
Faith from that church, welcoming you as a new member.
Profession of Faith
For those who have not had formal membership in another Christian
denomination or who have been Baptized in a Christian church but
have not been active in a church for some time, you may join the
church through a Profession of Faith. Before the congregation you
will acknowledge your inquiry into the church, your belief in Christ,
your desire to be Baptized (if you have not been) and to become
a member of the congregation.
Confirmation
Young people who have finished sixth grade attend a series of Confirmation
Classes to prepare them for membership in the church. Members of
the class Confirm their membership during a Sunday worship service.
