Worship
at Kavanaugh UMC is enriched by the magnificent tones of two first-class
pipe organs.
The Sanctuary Organ was built by the famous historic Aeolian-Skinner
Pipe Organ Builders of Boston. Our organ, Aeolian-Skinner Opus 1496
was commissioned in 1966 and installed in 1968. It features 2 manuals
(keyboards), 26 stops, and 25 ranks, or groups, of pipes (each rank
with a different tonal quality). There are 1,467 pipes from 2 –
16 feet tall.
August 2004 repairs and enhancements to the Skinner Pipe Organ
included replacement of the existing electro-pneumatic combination
action with a solid-state system that allowed for the expansion
of the memory and an all electrical action to include new coupler
tablets and draw knobs. The new solid state system enables recording/playback
functions and digital voice interfacing with MIDI campatibility.
The soaring tones of the organ welcome worshippers to the sanctuary
and accompany our voices in singing the great religious music that
is part of the Methodist tradition.

The Chapel Organ, built by Robert Sipe (Sipe-Yarbrough Company)
of Dallas, was originally installed in a Dallas home in the 1960s.
The free-standing organ was moved to our Chapel in 2000. This small
pipe organ fills the intimate Chapel with its beautiful sound.
