The spiritual development of our children is an important part of our mission.

Age-appropriate Sunday School and Worship provide a wide range of activities for youngsters. After school programs and special events offer fun experiences that help enhance understanding of our spiritual message and its applications in the child's everyday life.

Sneaker Seekers

Sneaker Seekers on the moveSneaker Seekers meet after school on Wednesdays. The church van picks up 3rd through 6th graders at their schools. Please contact the church office at 903-455-2869 to make pick up arrangements.

Following an after school snack, Sneaker Seekers work on service projects related to the Christian calendar.

Seekers visit our church shut-ins, help with Women in Need, make gift boxes for the needy, and assist church members in need. This group is always on the go!

Suggestions for new projects are always welcome.

JUMP Start (Jesus Using Many People)

JUMP Starters are 7th and 8th graders who join the Sneaker Seekers on Wednesday afternoons.

The church van picks them up at their schools. Please contact the church office at 903-455-2869 to

make pick up arrangements.  After a snack, they work with the Seekers on service projects.

Vacation Bible School

Four year olds through 6th graders attended a week of VBS classes during the summer. The sessions were open to all interested children (church membership not required).

2008 Vacation Bible School is Beach Party, Surfin' the Scriptures. VBS meets from 9 a.m. to noon, at the church for Bible stories, crafts, games and snacks in fun-filled sessions that strengthened their relationship with God.

Summer Camp

Summer camps held at Bridgeport Methodist Camps are open to 3rd-5th graders during June, July, and August.

The Bridgeport Camp & Conference Center overlooks beautiful Lake Bridgeport, 40 miles west of Denton, Texas. Campers live in air-conditioned cabins and enjoy a pool, athletic field, volleyball & basketball courts, walking trails, and outdoor worship areas.

In addition to Children’s programs, there are Music & Art Camps in June, as well as special sessions for urban youth and special needs campers.

A limited number of partial, need-based scholarships are awarded each year.

Christmas PageantChristmas Pageant

The Kavanaugh Christmas Pageant is a highlight of the season. Children perform a short play in the sanctuary, complete with costumes and special music, to commemorate the birth of the Christ child.

Tiny angels, shepherds, animals, and wise men lead the rejoicing in this holy season.

The Christmas Pageant follows the annual Christmas Dinner on the 2nd Sunday in December.

Kids Playground

The Playground at the corner of O’Neal and Johnson Streets is a creative playground built by church members. It's a favorite spot for Kids Day Out sessions and for families attending outdoor special events at the church.

Neighborhood children are also welcome at the Playground.
