Bible Study

Wednesday Afternoon Bible Study: The Christian Believers class, which meets on Wednesday afternoons at 3:45 p.m.

The goal of Christian Believers is to make available to people the substance of the Christian faith that the church has confessed as a way of connecting to God and living faithfully.

Everyone is welcome.

Short Term Disciple Class : This class meets on Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m.  for eight weeks. This  course uses Matthew's gospel to explore how the New Testament writers and the Early Christian community wrestled with the coming of Jesus and the implications of his arrival for their lives and their communities of faith.

Alternative Study Groups:

  • " DISCOVERY" classes will begin the first Sunday in May at 9:45 a.m. and will be held in the small dining room.  Each part of these series will last for four weeks before a new topic begins.  Jim Goodwin, past, will be leading Discovery classes.  The first series is entitled "Family Follies".

Kavanaugh United Methodist Women

Kavanaugh United Methodist Women meet for fellowship and inspiration throughout the year. Meeting days vary - please check the church calendar for dates and times.

Program topics are wide ranging. In the past they have included “How to Create a Biblical Garden” and tips for taking advantage of a local version of the “Antiques Road Show”.

The UMW actively support the mission of our District, the Hunt County Shared Ministries (FISH), and the Wesley Rankin Community Center, which provides literacy programs, after school programs, scholarships and women’s programs for families in West Dallas.

Kavanaugh United Methodist Men

Kavanaugh United Methodist Men meet the last Sunday morning of the month at 7:30 a.m. for a light breakfast and a few moments of reflective thought, followed by discussion of KUMM projects. KUMM provides breakfast for the Easter Sunrise Service and sponsors the Annual Crawfish Boil in April.

KUMM began meeting in February, 2005. They plan to be actively involved in both church and community projects.

Krafty Kritters

The Krafty KrittersThe Krafty Kritters create handcrafted gifts, household goods, and decorative holiday items to sell at the annual Pumpkin Patch Bazaar in October. Money raised through the sale funds missions and church projects.

Past missions have included helping a Russian church complete their church building and pay their minister. New flooring in the Kavanaugh kitchen, a new freezer, and other maintenance needs were funded through the sale.

Even more important than the financial success of the group, members say, is the fellowship and bonding that occur over needles and glue guns. The group ministers to one another and shares both the joys and concerns of each others’ lives. And, of course, the Kritters is just plain fun!

The group meets in the Kritter Room (off the Fellowship Hall) at the church on Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11:30. Kritters may work on any craft they choose. Supplies are furnished. Krafty Kritters is open to everyone.
